About the role

You keep civil litigation cases moving from discovery through trial for a US law firm, working remotely from the Philippines. Discovery is the core of the job: you draft requests, track responses, and prepare productions that hold up under scrutiny. You also own the calendar, computing every deadline against the applicable court rules so nothing is missed by a day. When a case reaches trial, you build the binders and exhibit lists the attorneys carry into the courtroom. This is hands-on case work, not intake or administrative support, so you need real civil litigation reps behind you.

Key responsibilities

Discovery Management

  • Draft interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission for attorney review.
  • Track incoming and outgoing discovery responses against their due dates.
  • Assemble document productions and confirm they match what was requested.
  • Prepare privilege logs and flag documents that need attorney attention before they go out.
  • Follow up on outstanding discovery and escalate when opposing counsel goes quiet.

Document Review and Production

  • Apply Bates numbering across production sets and keep numbering consistent across volumes.
  • Review documents for responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality designations.
  • Organize and index case files so any document can be pulled on request.
  • Redact sensitive information according to the protective order in place.

Deadline and Court Calendar Control

  • Calculate every filing and response deadline against the governing federal or state court rules.
  • Maintain the master case calendar and issue reminders ahead of each date.
  • Recalculate downstream dates when a scheduling order or continuance changes the timeline.
  • Confirm local rules and standing orders for each judge before dates are entered.

Trial Preparation

  • Build trial binders for attorneys, including pleadings, motions, and witness materials.
  • Prepare and maintain exhibit lists and keep them current as exhibits are added or withdrawn.
  • Assemble deposition summaries and transcript excerpts for use at trial.
  • Coordinate the final pretrial document set and confirm nothing is missing before filing.

Case File and Attorney Support

  • Maintain case chronologies and fact summaries the litigation team works from.
  • Pull records, pleadings, and correspondence on short notice during active motion practice.
  • Communicate case status clearly to attorneys working in a different timezone.

Qualifications

  • Three years minimum of hands-on civil litigation paralegal experience supporting US cases.
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and state court rules, including how to compute deadlines from them.
  • Experience preparing document productions with Bates numbering and privilege logs.
  • Familiarity with case management and eDiscovery platforms such as Clio, Filevine, Relativity, Everlaw, or Logikcull.
  • Comfort with Adobe Acrobat Pro for redaction, bates stamping, and binder assembly, plus Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with court e-filing systems such as PACER or CM/ECF.
  • Precision with dates and numbers, since a miscalculated deadline has consequences.
  • Ability to work independently across a large timezone gap and report status without being asked.
  • Clear written English, since most of your coordination with attorneys happens in writing.
